We are currently working on getting our hands on the new BraX3 phone so that we can review it and share our experience with you.
Is BraX3: the most privacy-friendly smartphone?
Brax Technology are adverting the new BraX3 as “The most privacy-friendly smartphone. Open-sourced, easy to use, and fairly priced”.
Positive outlook
The BraX3 INDIGOGO fund me page initially set a fund target of $250,000 which was met by supporters in just 4 days. This shows the initial excitment that people are having in this project. This target was then reset to $500,00 which was also met. The latest target was to raise $1,000,000 by January 2025. As of March 2025 the Indigogo webpage for this phone now shows that it has now reached funding of over $one-million.

We are especialy looking at testing the BraX3 phone with Ubuntu Touch as its Operating system of choice, obviously.

Software support
BraX3 will offer long-term support and security, with major Android OS updates and security patches guaranteed until at least 2030. This commitment ensures that your device stays up-to-date, secure, and fully functional for years to come.
As an open platform, BraX3’s AOSP (Android Open Source Project) code will be shared with developers of other custom ROM projects. This means that developers who wish to port their custom ROM to BraX3 will have access to the resources they need to make it happen. We believe that every custom ROM project contributes to the collective mission of enhancing privacy in mobile technology, and we’re excited to collaborate with the open-source community to support these efforts.
Continuous hardware support
The BraX3 is modularly designed so that you the consumer can replace parts by yourself with standard tools. To help you keep your BraX3 for years, we’re committing to provide spare parts for at least six years after launch. Alongside this, we’ll share detailed repair guides, diagrams, and technical documentation so you can easily repair your device yourself or with a trusted provider. With BraX3, you’re investing in a phone built for longevity and true ownership.
